SUMMARY:Private concert for the new album “Amitiés” – Reservation required
DESCRIPTION:Jazz songs in French and German\nThe musical encounter between French pianist Cédric Chauveau and Austrian singer Valérie Sajdik marked the beginning of a collaboration and friendship that has already lasted over a decade.\nWith their eclectic repertoire spanning French and German songs from the 1920s to the present, from Kurt Weill to Piaf, they have perfected the art of the duo. On this special evening at the Moulin de Christol in Pézenas, they will be joined by two other outstanding musicians, Michel Altier on double bass and Samuel Devauchelle on drums, to present their latest album “Amitiés,” which they largely recorded as a quartet.\nClassics with a contemporary twist\nThis album is a manifesto for multicultural friendships, diversity, freedom, and peace in a multicolored world.\nA European at heart, Valérie Sajdik has a passion for Occitania and divides her life between a small village in Hérault and Vienna, the Austrian capital where she was born.\nCédric Chauveau plays with jazz musicians in Occitania from all over the world and regularly accompanies singers from Spain, Sweden, the United States, and more, while also touring in Germany and beyond.\nFor this album, focusing on the friendship between Occitania and Germany, Cédric and Valérie have given new life to songs like Brassens’ “Les Bancs Publics,” Trenet’s “La Mer,” Barbara’s “Göttingen,” and unexpected titles such as the hit by German star Herbert Grönemeyer, “Mensch,” in a French version written by French singer Camille, as well as the French version of the 1982 Eurovision-winning song, “La Paix sur Terre.”\nAnother surprise is the reggae version of “Tout Va Très Bien, Madame la Marquise” And Nougaro’s “Une Rivière des Corbières.”\nTwo original compositions complete this album: “Larzac” and “C’est Fantastique,” the latter being a humorous song about the urbanites living in the countryside.\nAllemagne-Occitanie, L’Europe au Cœur\nIt’s jazzy, fresh, light, and full of humor! Recorded and mixed in Sommières, this album is 100% Occitan in origin and almost organic (no added artificial elements!).\nThe album was born from the exceptional initiative and commitment of Richard Jarry and his association Allemagne-Occitanie – L’Europe au Cœur, which since 2018 has aimed to deepen cultural, educational, and economic ties between Occitania and Germany. This association and its partners made the creation of this work possible.\n
