The Fairy Poppin’s celebrate jazz
Swing with the Fairy Poppin’s
Driven by a contagious passion for swing and a mischievous sense of humour, the Chick’n’Swing female quartet brilliantly revisits the jazzy world of the Zazous.
Their rich and varied repertoire ranges from the great standards of the 1940s to the works of Kurt Weill, not to mention a few gems by Boris Vian.
Under the name Fairy Poppin’s, these talented musicians explore the entire jazz spectrum, navigating with ease between different styles and emotions
While their vocal harmony sometimes evokes the famous Andrews Sisters, they do not hesitate to venture into blues or boogie-woogie, much to the delight of their audience.
Four fairies for a musical spell
Within the Fairy Poppin’s, each musician brings her colour and energy, creating an ensemble that is as rich as it is original.
Anne Cadilhac, a true jack-of-all-trades, moves with ease from piano to saxophone, from melodica to backing vocals, while also writing the group’s arrangements. Her talent is evident both on the Parisian stage and throughout France, where she is involved in numerous musical projects.
On drums and washboard, Marion Gineste brings a sense of rhythm and diversity to the group. Her playing, capable of traversing the eras of jazz, from New Orleans to Bebop, adapts equally well to intimate formations and larger ensembles, taking her from trios to sextets, and even to walking performances.
The double bass and backing vocals are provided by Valérie Rodriguez, whose roots lie in rhythm and blues and funk. An accomplished musician, she performs on stages in the Hérault and Gard regions, where she participates in various groups.
Finally, the voice of the group is none other than that of Valerie Sajdik. A charismatic singer with the Viennese group St Privat, she captivates international audiences from Europe to the United States. Her successful career has led her to contribute to the soundtracks of American series such as A Simple Favor and Emily in Paris, which feature some of her compositions.
Together, these four artists bring jazz to life with infectious elegance and camaraderie !
